Doctor Casino: Introduction

Welcome to my substack!

To put it bluntly, this substack exists to publish (and hopefully monetize) articles that are either too long, too esoteric, too “pop culture” and/or too controversial for other outlets but aren’t sufficiently edgy to require a pseudonym.

This substack also exists to provide a centralized example of the various topics I can discuss and the angles from which I approach them. Think of it as akin to a portfolio. Or, perhaps less flatteringly, the commentator’s version of an OnlyFans.

Here are some of the things you will find on this substack over time:

• Discussion of economics and analysis of economic policies

• Commentary about current affairs and politics

• Articles about the casino industry and the regulation thereof

• Articles in which I criticize articles written by others

• Writings about the state of the so-called “culture wars” and manifestations thereof in popular culture and politics

Sometimes I may post a political manifesto. Other times, I may post a policy analysis. A video game review may be posted too, if the game’s content refers to politics or economics. Sometimes I may write about current affairs in Australia. I will, however, try to avoid “venting” and “ranting” pieces - I may make some snarky remarks, but I will endeavor to provide substantive criticism instead of simple red-meat Outrage Porn.

I don’t anticipate putting too much content behind a paywall. That said, I would be exceedingly grateful for any support. Every little bit helps, particularly given the inflation most of us have been experiencing in the post-COVID-stimulus age!
